A Florida woman is suing the owner of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, in Naples, after an alleged slip and fall accident when she slipped on mud or bird poop that was on the ground during her visit.

The lawsuit claims that the woman, of Estero, was visiting the sanctuary, in December 2007, when she stepped on brown mud or feces that was on a damp boardwalk and it caused her to slip and fall. She injured her right shoulder in the fall.

The lawsuit was filed against the National Audubon Society, whom owns the sanctuary, saying they failed to keep the boardwalk clean or to warn the public of the slippery surface. The lawsuit seeks compensation for injuries she suffered in the fall.

A spokesman for the Audubon Society and the woman’s attorney both declined comment, pending the lawsuit.
